Our sovereignty is in our hand.
It is our right to determine how we shall exercise our sovereignty.

I know every Rakhaing has an ancestor died in the past or present in defence/freedom war of Rakkhapura.  I know of many today Rakhaings who are of noble and royal descent. They are afraid to identify openly. Surely they will get killed by the colonial and expansionist forces.  Still I urge them to create an archive so that the future generation may know. We the Rakhaings of Rakkhapura have a noble and glorious origin and history. We have a righteous path of civilization.  Our ancestors left behind a trail of courage blazing with their  blood of freedom.

1. In the Past. It was in 1784. ON this 31st. December 2002 it will be 218 years that our kingdom Rakkhapura and our Rakhaing Nation lost the independence. This does not mean that we lost our sovereignty because sovereignty cannot be robbed away unless it is surrendered. Our King Maha Thamada and our ancestors did not surrender. They were simply outnumbered by 1 to 10 and defeated. Every Rakhaing living today knows very well that his or her 'ancestors' died in defence of our sovereignty and independence. It is not a history. It is alive in our life every minute and every second. My paternal ancester, General Aung as I was told, died in combat in defence of U-Rite-Taung naval base. My maternal clan, entire of them, died in the last battle in defence of  our King who retreated to Kyein Taik after the fall of capital  Mrauk-U. Only at the elimination of my maternal clan the Bama invaders seized the King and we lost the independence. But, our sovereignty is still in our hand because we did not surrender it. Simple point is that we will regain our independence if we can exercise our sovereignty  effectively. This is a matter of 'strength'. Traditionally, we define it in 5 forms namely, 'Kaya Bala', 'Nyana Bala', 'Bhaugha Bala', 'Sareita Bala', and 'Meita Bala'. These are commonly known as 'Five Strength'.  If the Rakhaing Nation can build up these 'Five Strength' and practise her sovereignty  we shall regain our independence.
2. In present days. In 1947 and 1948, our  'Founding Parents', who are our  own parents and grand parents, surrender our sovereignty to AFPFL(Aung San) Constitution (read at http://www.shwelumaung.org/AungSanConstitution) and after his assassination to U Nu Constitution, in obligation of the 'Panlaung Spirit'.  We are a Federating Nation in accord with the 'Panlaung Spirit' and 'Panlaung Agreement'. On the 2nd March 1962 when the 1947 Union Constitution was dissolved by force by the Bhama Armed Forces (Bama Tatmadaw) the Union of Burma (Pyihtaungsu Mynamar Naingandaw) ceased to exist. As such the Rakhaing Nation Sovereignty returned to our hand on the that. day.  In recent past 50 years many of our  parents, brothers and sisters have sacrificed their lives in exercise of Rakkhapura sovereignty. Saw Tun, Khaing Raza, Khaing Moe Lunn, San Kyaw Tun,  and their comrades are in our hearts. We will never forget our heroes.
